So today I spent the day with Ed and Kathy in San Diego. It was an amazing mini vacation!!! So nice to see "family" since I've seen no one since...Christmas. We went to La Jolla and went sea kayaking. It was so cool. Getting through the surf on the way out was a little rough (one wave almost took me with it out of the kayak) but once out it was so nice. We saw sharks, sea caves, lots of seals and pelicans, two dolphins, and explored the kelp um...forests? I don't know what you call it, kelp beds? who knows, anyways there was this huge piece of kelp that was about as wide as my body is long, and who knows how long it was - pretty cool. Ed was a pain and kept splashing and throwing seaweed at us, so I told Kathy that I hoped he tipped over in the surf on the way in :D he did. Kathy and I came in first and caught a wave and rode all the way to the beach, we turned around to watch the guys come in and Ed and Guy (Kathy's brother) were in the water. It was entertaining.
After a quick lunch at a little mexican place, Kathy and I went tide pool exploring and saw lots of crabs, little fishes, barnacles, muscles, sea anemones, and surfers. There were some pretty talented skim boarders on the beach too.
Then we went and watched a whole beach full of seals for awhile - they were very entertaining.
And no, I took my camera but I forgot to take pictures. Be thankful I took the time to write up my day for you. :P
Oh and Ed spent the day trying to find a new long billed baseball cap - I guess he lost his old one on the canoe trip that you guys took to the boundary waters.
